Invite via Facebook not working?

I just got my Diaspora invite and promptly set about trying to invite my friends. I linked it to my Facebook account without issue, and when I click "Invite your friends" "From Facebook", it pulls up a list of all my friends. And when I click the drop-down by a name and try to add one to an aspect, it does take me to Facebook. But when I get there, it's just my default Facebook page. As far as I can tell, it hasn't actually done anything. I checked my messages and looked at my friends' walls, but there's nothing. The URI it takes me to looks like this:
Code:
https://www.facebook.com/?compose=1&id=XXXXX&subject=Join me on DIASPORA*&message=Follow this link to accept your invitation:https://joindiaspora.com/users/invitation/accept?invitation_token=XXXXX&sk=messages
So it looks like it's attempting to compose a message, but it's not working. When I go back to the invitation page on Diaspora those friends now have a "Resend" button, so it thinks it's invited them. But I'm pretty sure it hasn't.
Anybody know what's up?
Thanks!

Worked for me a couple of days ago. Has there been another tweak of the system since?

Doing the exact same thing for me today.

A lot of people on D* saying FB invites not working.
However - yesterday I sent an invite to a workmate's hotmail email address - and that still hasn't arrived either. Is this a traffic problem? Have spam filters decided that all these invites are not genuine mail? Something odd going on.

Same here, none of my Facebook friends got their invite.

Just tried sending a test invite to a yahoo.co.uk address, and that arrived OK. However, my workmate's hotmail invite never arrived. Seems like any failures are external to D*.
---update---
Just seen this - a tweet from a day ago from joindiaspora:
"due to a huge influx of new users, we turned our inviter off yesterday, but now it's back in full swing! #goingstrong #scaling #diaspora" (1 day ago)
Looks like the inviter might have been turned off & on at various times to regulate the influx to manageable levels.

Same here!
Same here inviting from FB has not worked for me for well over a week now.

Invited a friend by email, and it went through right away.
Any clues about how to invite a FB friend list (~1K names) without doing it one by one?

I don't think having the inviter turned off explains the failed FB integration. I had the same experience as the OP, so I tried clipping the actual invite link out of the constructed URI and pasting it into an FB message. When I did that, the invite went through. It is far more work than sending an invite by email, though, so I dropped back to sending invites by email...
Hmmm... just occured to me that a possible reason that the FB integration is working for some of us but not others is that some of us are on Timelines and others are not. Switching to Timeline affects more than just the Timeline itself. What's more, FB users who are not using Timelines themselves still see your profile as a profile! I have been soooo looking forward to getting off of FB.

I can't seem to get any "add contact" button on the facebook friends on @joindiaspora.org, any ideas?
