I guess I was hoping that when the software was released, it would be packaged in a zip file that I could load on the server, run an install file and be done with it. I was completely wrong.

Isn't it hosted on github? ll you would have to do is install git and run "git clone <diasporagiturl>" and it will pull the files from the server. This is done easily from within a Linux distribution like Ubuntu or Arch Linux. I don't know about Windows since I don't have it installed.

Thanks. I am going to look into that. I don't have any experience with git hub as I have never used them before. Thanks again for the info.

Git can be a bit confusing at first. For tutorials go to https://www.kernel.org/pub/software/s...ttutorial.html although these instructions will only work on *nix systems in the command line.

I appreciate the help. I am going to read up on git and see what I can figure out. I will stop back here and check for any updates. After spending many months trying to check for some updates from joindiaspora.com which rarely came, it is nice knowing there is a place where I can go and actually get some assistance. Thanks again.

If you haven't done so already you may want to get Ubuntu if you are trying to install Diaspora. The instructions for github are for only Linux and Mac. It will probably be the easiest to install with Ubuntu. Also, you're welcome. I will try and help in any way I can.

Thanks Mollusk, good info. I am glad I am not the only one having issues.

Have you read the instructions on the Diaspora github page?

Yes, I am still trying to work my way through them. It is 1 am here, so almost time to get some sleep so I can wake up for work. I will try to tackle the rest of this tomorrow.
