My post won't get published, no clue why.

I registered on diasp.eu, and everything seems to work fine. (Follow tags and people etc.) But sharing my posts, it doesn't seem to work. I wanted to share a public post, but nothing happens. It's not in the stream, or anywhere else I can think of. And I can imagine that some response time is needed, but more than a day?

First I assumed a hick-up of any kind, so I made another two attempts. But alas! Who can help?

I had the same problem Klaas until I figured out that I wasn't entering any (#tags) in my posts so naturally they didn't get posted.

Hi Klaas, hi siborg. You shouldn't need to use any hash tags in order to post. Sounds more like a temporary glitch.
Just select "public" before posting, if you want it to be public. But even if you only post it to your aspects, you should still see it in your own stream.

Hi siborg and frogfall, thanks for your replies. I did include some hashtags anyway, so that could not have been the cause. At this time I have no problems making a post, which makes it look like a temporary glitch. But since it's been a quite persistent one over several days, I do believe that there is some technical cause unknown to me. If so, it would be nice if such a technical cause were used to generate an error message. It would be very helpful for the newbies.

I have a few suggestions, maybe someone more knowledgable on Diaspora software could comment on it:

    1) How does enabling / disabling of Javascript in a browser affect posting? I'm selective in enabling Javascript for websites (with the Firefox add-on Noscript), but I carefully checked that I didn't disable it for diasp.eu. Still, the post wasn't published.
    2) In a few cases, I used some copy-paste chunks from a plaintext editor in the comments box. However, one fully handtyped post did'nt make it either.
    3) Could the use of some simple HTML-code (intended for copy-paste by someone who might find it useful) result in a silent refusal of the post?

    Couple other thoughts

    besides a temp glitch

I have posted and then searched for it, but couldn't find it...

one of two things was happening:

    1) takes a bit before a post/picture is searchable
    2) I would click on my profile which was following certain hashtags, but not the one I posted the picture under
    ____

if math could talk, you would be a hot number

    Hi,

I'm having the very same problem. My posts don't show up although I marked them public. Didn't include any hashtags, though. I already was watching the hashtag stream that I wanted to post.
The posts do show up on my profile page.
    Any suggestions?

SOLVED: Now that I included the hashtag in the post it shows up.

I don't know whether I should start a new thread or add to the replies here. I joined diasp.org yesterday and I'm having pretty much the same problem. My posts are not showing up in the stream, either with hash tags or without them. They appear there when I first post but when I refresh the page they are gone. I can only see them by going to my profile. All of them are marked "Public." I've linked to Facebook and Twitter and the posts show up in both. I created a new, temporary account to see if someone just could not view their own posts in the stream. I could not see my posts using that account either. What else to try?

    Ongoing Basic Problems With Diaspora*...

This is obviously a problem that needs to be addressed. I have just joined Diaspora* and have been able to post a reply in text with no problem, but I *cannot* make the "Share" button function when pasting the URL for a Vimeo video...And I find it very difficult to simply *navigate* around the pod...

I feel that there are perhaps basic coding glitches (or maybe something simpler) in the page set-up...Not everywhere obviously, but enough to be significant.

I've never used Factbook, so I don't have much idea of how/why "social sharing" is so exciting...But I hope the young code writers apply their skills and talents to this thing - Diaspora* - as I feel it has a GOOD potential for increasing awareness, and learning and awakening!

But to aid awakening........can we perhaps have some GUI buttons that work...?

    All Good Wishes!

This is a real problem. I have just tried to post some very interesting stuff copied from the Diaspora* forum, but once again the "Share" button does not function !

I reduced the size of the post, refreshed the page - "Share" does not function... Are there gremlins on the loose grawing away at the vitals of Diaspora's code so it won't be able to get off the ground...?

    Onward!
