Transparency of pod hosts

There are quite a few fairly big pod hosts but the ones I've looked at don't seem to be very forthcoming as to who they are, where your information stored that kind of thing.

I'm just thinking why should people trust someone who all they know about them is their email address to keep their personal info safe any more than (or even as much as) they trust Facebook.

Maybe the foundation could have some guidelines on transparency for pod hosts.

Any thoughts?
